Phase 1 of the photography was completed way back in May of 2009 by Carl. The film is being shot in B&W on a Super 16mm non-sync camera (a modified Bolex Rex 2). These were the scenes intended for CGI manipulation by Dave. It took the following summer to raise the funds for processing the film, HD telecine transfer, and acquiring the editing software to edit it. During this time, Dave worked on the "Nano animation", a short animated nano-factory sequence rendered in HD quality to be used in Phase 2 of principle photography.
That day is finally arriving. Phase 2 of principle photography has been scheduled to occur during the Month of February. Any additional pick-up footage, (inset shots, etc) will be completed in March and April. Dave is now working on post-production for Phase 1 -- creating animated CGI on existing image files (this includes learning the programs- a huge undertaking for one person).
The plan now is to complete Phase 2 photography, do the HD transfer, cut in the CGI work, and finally add audio tracks. The final project will be around 5 minutes.
We hope to have it submitted to the Northwest Film Festival by August 2010.
